Forum Facilitator...

Brenda Herchmer-Centre for Community Leadership

Brenda has a diverse background gained in a variety of business, government, education, and voluntary sector settings. Now the Manager of  the Niagara  College Centre for Community Leadership, a one stop resource centre for leadership development of elected officials and community leaders. The Centre was acknowledged by ACCC in 2002 as an "exemplary practice in community development" and was a finalist for the 2003 prestigious Peter F. Drucker Innovation Award. While Brenda's experience is diverse, there is a common thread throughout...a commitment to, and a belief in, the importance and strength of our communities.

Featured Speaker...

Ian Hill-President of The Changing Point-Canada

Ian Hill doesn’t just talk the talk, he walks the walk. From his humble beginnings as an adopted at-risk youth, to running a multi-million dollar operation   with 1,000 employees, spearheading first-of-their-kind schools, launching a philanthropic fund forhomeless youth or initiating an outreach project in Africa, he has been recognized for being a catalyst for positive change throughout North America.

Community development in action and federal funding resulted in the concept of the Centre for Community Leadership six years ago. It is now a self-sustaining unit at Niagara College, providing support and services to the voluntary sector in five areas: training and skill development, consulting and research, information dissemination, technology, and profiling and celebrating the sector. The Centre was acknowledged by ACCC in 2002 as an "exemplary practice in community development" and was a finalist for the 2003 prestigious Peter F. Drucker Innovation Award.
