Inspiring Change in individuals

Neighborhoods, and Communities

Ian Hill's Biography

Ian Hill was without a job, a career or a place to live when he came to Reno, Nevada. After taking a job as a busboy at a major Reno casino, he quickly climbed to an executive management position in just three years, finishing his hotel/casino career overseeing 30 departments and 1,100 employees.

Ian is now the President of The Changing Point, which works to help improve the lives of individuals, neighborhoods and communities all across North America. This is accomplished through numerous speaking engagements and his volunteer and philanthropic involvement in community-based projects throughout the United States, Canada and Africa.

He is truly a champion of the underprivileged and a leader for change in the community. His latest project is the first of its kind in the nation. Project Solution wraps around families by offering the Bailey Charter Elementary School, which assists the disadvantaged; the Sibayan Recreation and Youth Center; and the Petersen Adult Education Center. This project is changing the lives of youth and families and is sure to be a model used across the nation. Before this, Ian spearheaded the establishment of Nevada’s first charter school. The “I Can Do Anything” Charter High School serves over 350 “at risk” high school students.

Today, Ian’s main focus is His humanitarian effort, “Let Them Be Kids”, of which he is the founder and volunteer CEO. Let Them Be Kids is a Canadian wide all volunteer non-profit organization created to build community capacity on the grassroots level, while building playgrounds, skate parks and fitness parks in areas of need. In 2009, with the help of Kool-Aid, there will be 40 LTBK projects completed across the Country. September 26th 2009 will be Let Them Be Kids Day across Canada with 13 projects being done in one day, one in every Province and territory.

Ian has been recognized for his commitment to positive change by the National Council for Community and Justice and the Martin Luther King Jr. Commission, which both named him Humanitarian of the Year. The Stand for Children Organization named Ian its Child Advocate of the Year, and most recently in Toronto, Canada Ian was presented the Alder Community Leadership Award by Canadian Business Legend Harry Rosen.

Ian makes his home in lovely Northern Nevada, along with his wife Gina and their three children, Nia, Nadia and Kian, as well as Ian’s daughter Kassi.
